How to Repurpose Zoom Recordings Into Engaging Video Assets
Have you recorded an interview or created content using Zoom and now you want to repurpose it into engaging video assets? The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in more people working remotely, rely on Zoom for meetings, collaboration, interviews, and even conferences. Did you know your Zoom recordings can be added to your content marketing strategy, becoming part of an effective video campaign?
Unfortunately, the recordings you get from Zoom are not the best quality, especially if you want to repurpose them for social media, such as YouTube. They are recorded in wide screen or in picture-in-picture format. So if you intent repurposing them, as they are, they are not going to look good, which will lower engagement and trust.
Let's get right to it, in order to repurpose Zoom recordings into engaging video assets, you will need to:
The first important step is to ensure you record your meeting in gallery mode. As a default, Zoom recordings are in speaker mode, highlighting whoever is speaking. When in gallery mode, you can place the images side by side. Once in gallery mode, it is important that you hit the record for your Zoom meeting, especially if you intend repurposing it as an engaging video, this way you can record in galleries.
Now that your Zoom content has been recorded, you want to find an extract you can use as engaging video on your website, or a short extract you can use on social media. You will need to select an in and out point for your extracted video.
You don't need fancy editing software, you can download MPEG Stream Clip, or a similar application. MPEG Stream Clip is a free software, suitable for Windows and Mac. Once downloaded and installed, you can open your video file.
Once your video is open in the app, find the in point you can to start your engaging video, press I. It will be marked on the time line. You now play the video to where you want it to step.
With your shortened video, you click on File and Export to MPEG4. Ensure you set the quality to high, then click on Make MPEG4.
You can now set up a free account on Canva.com, where you can edit your video. Here you can create a design with customised dimensions, which is ideal for social media.
Once you have clicked on create a design, you will be presented with a blank canvas. The first step is to important the video extract you created. Click on the video and add it to your canvas, here you can resize it and centre it to ensure it doesn't get cut off.
You can also add your business logo by simply clicking back to your upload folder, selecting images, and uploading your logo file. From here you can also add text elements, adding a heading, repositioning it to ensure it grabs your audiences attention.
For the next step you can take advantage of adding captions to your video, enabling users to engage with your video in silent environments, along with those with hearing difficulties.
Zoom recordings offer an excellent opportunity to repurpose them into engaging videos, providing your audience with information on your brand, products, or services.
