A local business recently approached Genie Crawl for assistance in helping them improve their ranking in search results, driving organic traffic to their site. The business, was a small, family-owned company that specialised in environmental friendly lighting systems, and while they had top quality products, competitive prices, and great customer services, their Wordpress website was not gaining the traction they had hoped. The business had already set up a Google Business Profile and had a number of positive reviews.
Our client turned to Genie Crawl to help them stand out, showing their potential clients the benefits of using their eco-friendly lighting, compared to the traditional lighting you find in any home improvement shop. Their Wordpress site was a great theme with good quality content that was informative and engaging. Our focus was to improve the technical SEO and implement some plugins to improve their ranking in local search results.
There are a number of plugins we could choose from, all designed to help our clients improve their local ranking through tasks that were to be completed as his site is updated, such as schema markup, which helps search engines understand the context of your content. We conducted thorough local keyword research, creating location landing pages, and integrating Google Maps using a plugin. We also implemented plugins that would automatically update the XML sitemap and Robots.txt files, as and when the site was updated. At the same time, we focused on site architecture and speed, along with securing the site using the HTTPS protocols. This involved minimising images and eliminating unnecessary code. We also identified any broken links and duplicate content.

Now when they update their web pages, their XML sitemap and Robots.txt files are updated, along with schema markup being added to any new pages. Today, our client is ranking at the top of local results for their eco-friendly lighting, securing 1st position for 10 of their targeted keywords, boosting visibility and organic traffic. This shows how valuable SEO plugins and technical SEO are to local websites, helping improve local visibility, along with website and foot traffic.
